Numobag® Case Study – Trauma Injury

Severe orthopedic injuries with multiple fractures and tissue trauma to lower leg resulting from a motor scooter accident in Thailand. Thai doctors considered the patient for amputation, but contacted Numotech to see if the wound was appropriate for Numobag® treatment. The patient was treated in Thailand after the Thai doctors were trained by Numotech.

The patient presented with severe orthopedic injuries with multiple fractures and tissue trauma to his lower leg. Bones were stabilized with an external fixator. This patient was not a candidate for the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. The Numobag® was prescribed as an alternate and treatment was initiated within a short period of time.

The contaminated wound became infected.
Note degree of tissue loss.
Month 1: At the onset of treatment, the wound was infected with slough. Eschar was present and the surrounding tissue inflamed. The wound was debrided and Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (THOT®) started.
Month 2: After initial Numobag® treatments with THOT®, the wound decreased in size and showed evidence of granulation tissue. Inflammation was receding.
Month 3: Wound continued to heal with new capillary blood vessels and healthy tissue.
Month 4: The wound closed with no scar tissue.
